Welcome!
Welcome to the Flint Hills Nature Trail! Look for information, updates, photos, and messages related to the rail-trails and our members. If you have a question, comment, photo, or trail story to share, please send it to gksport@gmail.com.
The Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy oversees the development and maintenance of two trails: The Flint Hills Nature Trail which stretches 117 miles from Herington to Osawatomie, and the Landon Trail which runs 38 miles from Topeka to Lomax. The Prairie Spirit Trail, a project of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, connects to the Flint Hills Nature Trail at Ottawa and is a wonderful part of these scenic greenways.
Enjoy your explorations!

We Have Met the Challenge!
December 10, 2007
The LyCo Division of the Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy has met the challenge match by Trussler Foundation of Emporia by raising more than $10,000 to develop the Flint Hills Nature Trail between Allen and Admire.
We came in at just under $11,000 when we hit our deadline of December 1st," said Gina Poertner, President of the KRTC. It's very encouraging to see such good support from Emporia and surrounding areas, as well as out of area by people who travel here to use the trails."
The current completed section between Allen and Bushong is being used by cyclists, runners, walkers, geocachers, and equestrians from all over Kansas and several other states. As the gateway to the Flint Hills, this area offers the sights and sounds of prairie wildlife, agriculture, historical landmarks, and friendly communities.
